See Through Media

Augmented Media Literacy

A browser extension for seeing through the news

Introducing Augmented Media Literacy.

Your enhanced media literacy plugin for news content. We don’t tell you what to think, we help you see through the media.

See how it works

What it shows you

Headline framing

Scores the headline against a clickbait taxonomy, so you can see the gap between what a headline promises and what the article delivers.

Emotional language

Highlights words carrying emotional charge as you read. Objective reporting uses very few of them, so the density itself tells you something.

Source attribution

Shows who is quoted in a piece, how they are quoted, and which points of view are represented — and which are missing.

Sentence consensus

Coming soon

We look at major news event reporting and compare sentence by sentence between media outlets for key points of consensus.

“We aim to provide a level of media literacy to any news reader that could only be achieved after reading thousands of articles.”

We are an international team based in Finland and the United States. Finland is consistently ranked as having the world’s most trusted media, and the highest societal media literacy to go with it. Our goal is to make that level of literacy available to anyone, anywhere, in the article they happen to be reading.
